Setup & Care Tips

Before Assembly

Confirm that you have received the correct 83 Gallon Reptile Enclosure, with external dimensions of 48 × 20 × 20 inches (121.9 × 50.8 × 50.8 cm).

Carefully unpack and inspect the aluminum frame components, enclosure panels, sliding tempered glass doors, steel mesh top, removable substrate barrier, and included hardware.

Do not assemble the enclosure if any glass panel is cracked, any structural component is damaged, or required hardware is missing. Contact customer support before proceeding.

Choosing an Installation Location

Place the enclosure on a stable, level surface that can safely support its total weight when fully assembled and furnished.

Choose a dry, well-ventilated indoor location away from direct sunlight, excessive moisture, and sudden temperature changes.

Ensure there is enough space to operate the sliding doors and access the enclosure for cleaning and maintenance.

Assembling the Aluminum Frame

Follow the manufacturer's included assembly instructions when connecting the aluminum frame and enclosure panels.

Check that all frame components are correctly aligned and securely fitted before installing or operating the glass doors.

Do not force components into position or overtighten hardware. Use only the appropriate tools and supplied or manufacturer-approved fasteners.

Installing and Using the Sliding Glass Doors

Follow the manufacturer's instructions for positioning and installing the sliding tempered glass panels.

Check that both doors are correctly seated and slide smoothly before placing an animal inside.

Keep the door tracks clear of substrate, dust, and debris. Never force a jammed glass panel.

Steel Mesh Top and Cable Management

Ensure the steel mesh ventilation top is properly positioned and secured according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Use the designated cable-routing openings for compatible heating, lighting, and environmental monitoring equipment.

The enclosure includes 8 cable-routing openings. The manufacturer states that the routing system can accommodate up to 4 wires, depending on their dimensions.

Keep electrical connections away from moisture, and do not pinch or damage cables during assembly.

Removable Substrate Barrier

The enclosure includes a removable substrate barrier approximately 3.9 inches (9.9 cm) high.

Ensure the barrier is correctly installed before adding loose substrate.

Avoid overfilling the enclosure with substrate beyond the barrier's effective height.

Remove and clean the barrier only as permitted by the manufacturer's instructions.

Heating, Lighting and Habitat Setup

Select heating, UVB lighting, thermostats, substrate, and habitat furnishings according to the requirements of the reptile species being kept.

Secure heating and lighting equipment using suitable, manufacturer-approved mounting methods. Maintain appropriate clearance between heat sources and enclosure materials.

The steel mesh top may reduce UVB exposure. Verify the UVB level at the animal's basking position using appropriate guidance and equipment.

Establish and check suitable temperature and humidity conditions before introducing your reptile.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Remove waste and soiled substrate regularly.

Clean the glass doors, door tracks, aluminum frame, substrate barrier, and accessible interior surfaces using cleaning products appropriate for reptile enclosures.

Avoid abrasive materials that could scratch the glass or frame finish.

Inspect the frame connections, glass panels, ventilation top, and hardware periodically for damage or loosening.

Allow cleaned surfaces to dry completely before returning your reptile to the enclosure.

Important Safety Information

  • Do not use the enclosure as an aquarium or fill it with standing water. Watertight construction has not been verified.
  • Do not stack enclosures unless the manufacturer specifically approves the installation method and supporting equipment.

Excellent 83-Gallon Terrarium for My Rescued Crested Gecko

I purchased this FMATOZ 7-gallon tempered glass terrarium as a temporary enclosure for my rescued crested gecko.
When I rescued him about a year ago, he had spent seven years in a dirty, neglected tank. He was severely underweight and had lost his tail from stress. Thankfully, he's now nearly tripled his weight and lives in a spacious two-story terrarium!
I needed a secure secondary enclosure where he could stay for about a week whenever I deep-clean his main habitat, replace the substrate, and wash his hides and accessories.
I was really impressed with the quality of this terrarium as soon as we assembled it. The tempered glass panels and aluminum frame feel sturdy, and the clear glass makes it easy to observe my gecko.
The front-opening hinged door is a great feature, especially with the locking mechanism and two included keys. I also appreciate the steel mesh top, the cable routing holes, and the smooth glass interior, which makes cleaning much easier.
Compared with some lightweight plastic or acrylic enclosures I've seen, this one feels much more solid and well-built.
